When Authority Replaces Accountability
Truth Report — Published by The Godless Society
Observation
We are told to trust institutions, defer to experts, and submit to authority “for the greater good.” Questioning decisions is framed as ignorance. Doubt is labeled dangerous.
Compliance is praised. Discernment is discouraged.
The Lie
The lie is that authority itself equals truth.
That credentials replace character.
That position removes the need for scrutiny.
The Truth
Biblical authority is never detached from accountability.
Kings were judged. Prophets were tested. Leaders were rebuked. No office in Scripture granted immunity from examination.
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:21
Truth invites inspection. Lies demand silence.
The Cost
When people surrender discernment, they surrender responsibility.
When conscience is outsourced, control follows naturally.
A society that no longer tests claims becomes dependent on permission rather than truth.
Closing
Authority that fears questions is not protecting people.
It is protecting itself.
